Consortium
BovReg is coordinated by the Leibniz Institute For Farm Animal Biology (FBN). It brings together experts from bioinformatics (2), molecular genetics (10), quantitative genetics (8), animal breeding (11), (reproductive) physiology (3), ethics (1), social science (2), dissemination and exploitation/innovation (2).
The consortium forms an interdisciplinary team from 13 countries and two international associations, covering the entire research-to innovation chain, including two SMEs. Planned are broad dissemination and exploitation of the results, including ethical evaluation and knowledge management as well as methodology training.
The entire team is dedicated to generating a comprehensive functional annotation map of the bovine genome and to applying their knowledge to validate novel models for biology-driven genomic prediction.
A further aspect is the assessment of potential policy/political consequences of applications based on knowledge generated by BovReg for society, the scientific research community, and the livestock industry.
