UALBERTA associated researchers are co-authors of two new studies

BovReg associated researchers at UALBERTA are co-authors of two papers published on BMC Genomics. These two studies represent one of the most comprehensive GWAS analyses in beef cattle in terms of high DNA marker density (7.8M SNPs) and larger sample size (>7500 for feed efficiency) in a single study. Understanding the genetic architecture of major performance traits (feed efficiency and carcass merit) in beef cattle will help us design better genomic prediction strategies to select more efficient cattle with improved meat quality. These studies will feed into BovReg which will address these traits as well as expand into dairy cows as well as other breeds and crossbred cattle.
